Help

Need to renew your booking? Instead of making a new booking for the same item, ask a Lending Assistant to extend your booking. Stop by the MEC, call (412) 268-2424 during open hours, or email lending@cmu.edu.

Please note: If you make a new booking for equipment you already checked out, you will have to cancel the new booking so that we can extend the existing one. Bookings can be extended up to one week without special permission, unless the items have already been booked in advance by others.

Tip: You can add multiple items to one booking. If you need to add items after making your initial booking, you can edit it in the "My Account" page.

Foundations students: You can search "foundations" when booking equipment to see all items available to your Foundations EMS courses.

Policies

• Equipment checkout and returns may only take place during the regular hours of operation.

• Equipment borrowed from the MEC must only be returned to a lending assistant on duty in the MEC, and not to any other location or person on campus. Never drop off equipment outside of the MEC when the room is closed.

• The equipment loan period is 48 hours.

• Consult a Lending Assistant if you need to extend your current booking.

• A late fee of $10 is assessed per item, per day. Borrowing privileges are suspended until late fees have been paid. The maximum late fee for an item is the replacement cost of the item.

• Items are not considered returned until all parts and accessories associated with the item are also returned. Overdue fees will accrue until missing parts are returned or replacements are ordered.

• Equipment may be reserved up to 2 weeks in advance. For special arrangements, consult an MEC administrator.

By signing out equipment, you agree to:

• Accept full responsibility for those items. This includes covering any costs related to loss, damage, or theft.

• Handle equipment with care, as outlined in the Equipment Care and Handling guidelines

• Return equipment on time

The Media Equipment Center reserves the right to refuse service to borrowers who fail to abide by the guidelines described above.

You must agree to these terms and conditions in order to borrow equipment from the MEC.
